Last Sun on Kvaløya
This is the last week of sun before the dark season. As you can tell I’m taking all the pictures I can. Soon the sun will disappear for two months but even in the darkness we have a ‘bright season’ – Christmas, and not to mention the Northern Lights. Tis the season to be jolly.
Southern Sunset: Vista
The South shore of Tromsø Island. The mountains, the rocky sand and the cold water. I’m jealous of the little red boat shed as it has the best location. On any celebration table in Norway you can always find a Norwegian layer cake (bløtkake). What better way to celebrate Norwegian Constitution Day than with fresh cream, wild berries and a little bit of sponge in between.

The bunad is a traditional Norwegian costume worn by both men and women. It can either come from established rural traditions or have a more modern design inspired by historical patterns and cuts.
The sun never goes down during this season but the mountains to the East are so high that the sun still has to raise above them in the morning hours and an artificial dawn-effect wakes the city.
