Easter Mountain
Every Easter in Norway people go to Easter Mountain. When you ask a Norwegian what they are doing for Easter, ‘going to Easter Mountain’, they reply. Newspapers have Easter Mountain weather reports. People get rescued on Easter Mountain. And there is a mortality count on Easter Mountain. Even when coming home, there is Easter Mountain traffic. Today I asked Moose, ‘Easter Mountain, where is that?’ (thinking that this place must be great since everyone was going there for Easter.) ’It’s up in the mountains.’ I waited for more but there was none. O-kay. Moose didn’t leave me hanging for too long. Easter Mountain is where you spend your Easter cabin or skiing holiday – anywhere in Norway.

Many English words actually come from old Norse language – brought by Vikings to England in medieval times. Here are some words you have probably uttered without realising you are speaking Norwegian!
Reindeer herding is more than just an occupation, it is a way of life and an integral part of the Sami culture and identity.
Even in the peak of summer our mountains have touches of snow.
Norwegians are starting to get adventurous with cooking on the barbie.
Knowing what will keep your baby warm in Norway is common knowledge passed down from mother to mother…
The further ‘out of the way’ you go the more common it is to see folk cottages standing by the side of roads, along fjords or in a thicket of trees, minding their own business.
I guess this is one of those oddities that would make little sense translating… kind of like “utepils i solveggen” (“outdoors beer in the sun wall”?)

LOL – Never really thought of how strange that might sound until now….
