17th May Parade Day
Norwegian Constitution Day is celebrated by a series of parades. In these parades it is the people who are in focus as they march on Norway’s ‘birthday’. There are so many happenings, things to see and do, on this day. In this video you will see a slice of what a 17th May parade day is in Tromsø. Moose and I give commentary and we hope you enjoy the sights and sounds of what makes this day so special.

This custom is based on a spiritual commitment.

The bunad is a traditional Norwegian costume worn by both men and women. It can either come from established rural traditions or have a more modern design inspired by historical patterns and cuts.
Norwegian dogs were born with a purpose. They were bred to be hunting dogs, herding dogs and farm dogs.
Even though the males are called bulls and the females cows, the muskoxen are more closely related to sheep than cattle. Make no mistake, though – this is not your average cuddly ba-ba-blacksheep! A grown animal can be 2,5 m long and weigh up to 400 kgs, and their long curved horns mean business.
L-Jay, I thoroughly enjoyed your video!
Moose speaks English so well and I loved to hear your voice too. Lilu is growing so quickly and she’s adorable.
I loved seeing the parades in Tromso. What a view you provided us with. I loved the folk dancing and remember several my parents taught me. They were in a Norwegian folk dancing group in Sons of Norway. I also enjoyed seeing all the different bunads; so beautiful.
Thank you again. And happy Syttende Mai!
Debbie
Moose’s English is a lot better than it was when he was 15.
