Little Black Dress
People always complain about how expensive Norway is, especially Norwegians. However, Norway really knows how to put on a sale. I have never seen things cheaper on sale than in Norway. In fact, we rarely need to buy clothes full price. There is always a sales clothes-rack with 50-70% off somewhere in each store. Quite often you get a great find. Today I bought a little black cocktail dress for 90% off. It fits like a glove. Boy, did I walk out of that store beaming!

The further ‘out of the way’ you go the more common it is to see folk cottages standing by the side of roads, along fjords or in a thicket of trees, minding their own business.
The sun never goes down during this season but the mountains to the East are so high that the sun still has to raise above them in the morning hours and an artificial dawn-effect wakes the city.
How Norway became a country is shrouded in mystery and folklore. The most well known tale is of Harald Hårfagre who gathered the small kingdoms of the north into a unified nation in 872AD – and of course, this story is about love.
On any celebration table in Norway you can always find a Norwegian layer cake (bløtkake). What better way to celebrate Norwegian Constitution Day than with fresh cream, wild berries and a little bit of sponge in between.
I know what you mean. In the U.S. going out for a sandwich and øl is either reasonable or pretty expensive. It always depends on where you go and what’s offered. It’s not THAT big of a difference.
I wish France had been like Norway–there the sales are regulated, so a promotion is rare and 20% off is a huge deal. Everything is really, really expensive. Well, not food, but clothes, yeah. I once paid 14 euros for a bottle of contact solution I could buy in the US for about 3 bucks. I miss France, but I love US clearance sales.
Nice find! Would love to see a pic of the dress.
La rêveuse: Really? I don’t know if it is just in Saint Etienne where I am, but the sales this year have been really good – most of what I bought had like 50-70% off! But, 90% off…wow! Bargain! When I was there over xmas I found that compared to food etc. for clothing Norway really isn’t that bad!
Ah, and ditto to the pic
More pictures please! I’m in a need of a black dress…
Oh what a good news
Do you think there will still be those discount racks when the summer comes? I would really love a pretty summer dress
