It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

On any celebration table in Norway you can always find a Norwegian layer cake (bløtkake). What better way to celebrate Norwegian Constitution Day than with fresh cream, wild berries and a little bit of sponge in between.
A popular Summer activity in Norway is kayaking. The coast of Norway is dotted with thousands of little islands making the perfect conditions for a smooth paddle.
The walking-street takes you from Central Station to the Royal Palace.

I have a friend over in Winnipeg, Canada, and she tells me they’ve had their first snow too… tell me these photos aren’t taken this year?!?

Ahhh, they were taken yesterday!
I can’t overstate the envy I feel whenever I see pictures taken by people who live in a better part of the country than I do when it comes to climate. I’d be thrilled if we had even a month of proper winter down here.

Yes, it will melt though (maybe
) before the real winter snow sets in. But this year so far looks great for a big white winter.
I can’t believe how different are the places in which we each live! I love your first snow; it’s beautiful. Oh how I wish I could see it and feel it too. In Phoenix, Arizona I was excited that the temperatures are beginning to cool down but to me that means it’s in the 80′s during the day now. LOL.
I love your photography as you are so talented. You really are a blessing to me L-Jay. I love to stop by and visit your part of the world which you know I love. One day I will get back to Norway.

You should come back to Norway one day. We’ll be waiting for you
.
Thanks L-Jay. With a trip to Tromso at the end of next year, I will be watching your 2009 winter reports with eager anticipation. Meanwhile, back on the Gold Coast, we have rain for the first time in 8 weeks! I love the sound of the rain on an old tin roof… believe it or not, I also have my fire on! The weather truly is amazing
