Hi! I´ve been here many times before but this time I was looking to find an article you wrote to forward to my friends who are learning Norwegian. The article showed different words that influenced the English, such as drittas became dirt... I looked for those 2 words at your search system but it didn´t work hehehe. Can you please locate that article link to me so I can share it? Tusen takk.

Always so funny to hear people talk about "Old Norse". It´s modern Icelandic, if you didn´t know. You can take any schoolchild in Iceland and open up one of the sagas, written 8-900 years ago, and they can easily read it. It´s because it´s the same language! There is no old norse, there is only icelandic!

Wrong. That is like saying Danish is Modern Norwegian. Any schoolchild in Norway can read Danish but that doesn't mean it is the same as Norwegian. (Even I can understand Old Norse texts because of my Norwegian - and that certainly doesn't make Old Norse Norwegian now does it?) In fact, Vikings settled Iceland and it was they who spoke Old Norse. Then the language progressed (like every language does over centuries). If you study the languages you will realise there is a difference between Old Norse and Icelandic, just the same as there is a difference between Old English, Middle English and Modern English.</em>

Hey!

I´m a norwegian girl from Sandnes (a bit south of Stavanger) and I just discovered your blog. Very, very funny and interesting to read :-)
I´m living in Ecuador now, and trying to learn spanish, so I know how you feel learning a new language.
Keep writing, I´ll keep reading!
