Bull Horns

The Bull Horns, or Okshornan in Norwegian, is a mountain formation jutting out from the Senja Island coastline. It is obvious that the mountains get their name from their shape as they are very sharp. It looks like they are just one row but they are actually made up of layers and layers of rock. This spot is a popular tourist destination as the view faces north, and with the Midnight Sun, you can witness a striking contrast of broody mountains against a yellow sky.
The ramp leads to a rocky end. In Autumn the waves are a little more angry than usual so make sure you don’t get too close to the edge as freak waves are a regular occurrence. This spot makes good for long exposures as the white water flows over the rocks.

For Tourists:
This place is a good pit-stop as it offers toilets in the middle of nowhere. Down the ramp you’ll find a minimalist grill facing out to sea. You will need to bring your own wood though.

How Norway became a country is shrouded in mystery and folklore. The most well known tale is of Harald Hårfagre who gathered the small kingdoms of the north into a unified nation in 872AD – and of course, this story is about love.
Pølse is THE fast food of Norway. When the grilled pølse was first introduced to Norway in the 50s it was eaten naked – without bread.
Tonight’s sky was filled with the Northern Lights.
Large wooden racks called hjell are for drying fish.
I love that place! I visited for the first time this Summer, and was very impressed with they way they built the ramp in a creative way which makes it fit in the landscape. And with the view of course
We saw it on a very calm day, without any waves (see http://norwich.hanneketravels.net/lofoten05.jpg ). I love that big wave in your photo, such a beautiful colour too! Now I want to go there in bad weather

Wow! I love the colours of the ground rocks. You know, to get the full idea of Norway I reckon you have to visit a place three times – Summer, Autumn and Winter make the same place look so different.
