Tromsø in High Summer
A picture taken to the west from a walking track on the hill in the centre on Tromsø island.
Tromsø in high summer is beautiful and warm. The sun is mature and the colours deep. It is easy to forget that all this turns into a winter wonderland.

In Norway, there are still Lefse recipes around from the 1630s! This is supposedly the traditional and original Hardanger recipe used:
Runes were the written language of the Vikings.
How Norway became a country is shrouded in mystery and folklore. The most well known tale is of Harald Hårfagre who gathered the small kingdoms of the north into a unified nation in 872AD – and of course, this story is about love.
On any celebration table in Norway you can always find a Norwegian layer cake (bløtkake). What better way to celebrate Norwegian Constitution Day than with fresh cream, wild berries and a little bit of sponge in between.
There is an opposition in everything. At the darkest time of the year, we celebrate Christmas. And at the exact opposite end, when the midnight sun is at its highest, we celebrate Midsummer.
You framed this photo perfectly with the leaves from the trees. Lovely picture!

Why is the most BEAUTIFUL places in the world seem to have the harshest winters. Alaska is like that, and so many other places.
Beautiful picture.

Tromsø has just hit the point where the sun doesn’t come over the horizon anymore. I’m amazed at how quickly it happened. Have to wait til mid-January now before we can see the sun again – yikes!
It is stunning, absolutely beautiful. However as I have said before my heart melts in the winter

Christmas is fantastic – every childs dream. But it sure makes it hard to take outside pictures when you only have twilight ..lol
Lovely photo.
How much snow do you have there now? My daughter’s in Oslo and is complaining that it’s getting cold but no doubt it’s much worse up north, especially without the sun.
Btw, I’ve tagged you on my blog.
