A Kors for Celebration

Norwegians may not be very talkative or outgoing, but they are definitely a charitable people.
In this time of financial uncertainty, Norwegians managed to dig deep. Over 100, 000 volunteers from all over the country collected over NOK 190 million for the TV-aksjonen Blå Kors (The Blue Cross TV Appeal) last night. That’s about USD 30 million! – not bad for a country with a population of 4.5 million.
The money will be used specifically to help children in Norway who suffer from their parents alcohol or drug abuse. Often children in substance abusive homes are forced to grow up quickly to look after other siblings and even their parents. With this money the Blå Kors aims to give these children back their childhood.
In the land of big money, the people still have a big heart.
